Gascovid Liquid 150ml

Gascovid Liquid with the formulation with sodium alginate 500mg, sodium bicarbonate 267mg and calcium carbonate 160mg, it provides in relieving with long duration of action up to 4 hours.

Indications: Treatment of symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux such as acid regurgitation, heartburn, indigestion due to reflux of stomach contents.

Actions and Pharmacology Pharmacotherapeutic classification: A02BX Other drugs for peptic ulcer and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) On ingestion Gascovid Liquid react rapidly with gastric acid to form a raft of alginic acid gel having a near neutral pH and which floats on the stomach contents, quickly and effectively impeding gastro-oesophageal reflux, for up to 4 hours. In severe cases the raft itself may be refluxed into the oesophagus, in preference to the stomach contents, and exert a demulcent effect.

Composition: Each 10ml contains Sodium Alginate 500mg, Sodium Bicarbonate 267mg and Calcium Carbonate 160mg.

Precautions:
– This product contains methyl hydroxybenzoate and propyl hydroxybenzoate which may cause allergic reactions possibly delayed.
– This product contains sodium. This should be taken into account when a highly restricted salt diet is recommended, e.g. in some cases of congestive cardiac failure and renal impairment.
– This product contains calcium carbonate. Care needs to be taken in treating patients with hypercalcaemia, nephrocalcinosis and recurrent calcium containing renal calculi.
– There is a possibility of reduced efficacy in patients with very low levels of gastric acid.
– If symptoms do not improve after seven days, the clinical situation should be reviewed.
– Treatment of children younger than 12 years of age is not generally recommended, except on medical advice.

Direction:
– For oral use. Shake well before use.
– Adult & children > 12 years old: 10 – 20ml after meals and at bed time.
– Children 6 – 12 years old: 5 – 10ml after meals and at bed time.
– Children under 6 years old: Should be given only on medical advice.
